Trinidad and Tobago

About 23 of us travelled to Trinidad on the 8th September for Pre Ship Training, where we were joined by 20 others mainly from Latin America. We stayed at a Christian ministries centre near Arima and were blessed with a swimming pool, which we made good use of! Apart from that the centre was very basic and very hot! We learnt many dramas and ministry skills over the 2 weeks there, as well as completing all the safety training required to work onboard the ship. This included a day doing life raft training in a pool and learning fire fighting. Some of the days were very long - those on which we visited the ship we were up at 5am - but the Lord proved Himself to be our sustainer.

On the final weekend before we joined Logos II, we went on small overnight church teams. Five of us (Evis (Guatemala), Pablo (Argentina), Maartje (Holland), Magdali (India) and I) went to a Pentecostal church. We stayed with local families from the church, which was a great cultural experience. The lady us girls stayed with is a professional caterer so she cooked amazing Indian food for us! On the Saturday we watched the church football team play. Then we were involved in street evangelism/open air service late afternoon in the ghetto where their church is. There is much gun crime and drug problems here. I was MC for the open air so I explained the dramas that we did and also gave my testimony. There was a small crowd of young people hanging around and people would also be able to hear from their houses. On the Sunday our team lead the service, challenging the church to get more involved in missions. Again I was the MC and the challenge was very well received.

On 24th September, we moved onboard Logos II.
