Help at hand

Just the other week, Luke and I were out in Trogir and came across a man in a wheelchair who was bleeding a lot from a head injury.. He looked like probably he is homeless or very poor at least and obviously not with it. He was just on the side of the road and outside a cafe and no-one was doing anything to help him. Well, not speaking the language or knowing how to phone for an ambulance or anything, Luke and I both were feeling a little bit helpless and wondering what we should do. If either one of us had been alone we probably would have walked away like that and felt bad to not be able to help. But together we thought to go into the cafe and ask someone to please come and help him. Then when we stood with the man and tried to tell him help was coming (even though he probably didn't speak English). Some other people began to gather and were able to translate and they took their cell phones and phoned for help so we knew he would be helped and felt okay to leave. Luke and I could also pray together for him after we left the scene. We still wished we could have done more but it was encouraging that God can and will use us, and that we are flexible to let God interrupt our 'free time' to help another.

Cleaning

Logos Hope

I have changed departments to accommodation (the cleaning team), starting tomorrow. Am very happy about this. Regular hours (8-5) and weekends off. There is a lot to clean. Will keep me busy! I think we will start on the Deck 2 cabins this week. They want to move us from Deck 5 to Deck 2 before we sail.

Croatia

I hope that this works because all the instructions are in Croatian, so of course I don't have the foggiest idea what any of the options say. I am hoping that my memory serves me correctly in order to post this blog!!

So, as you have gathered, I am in Croatia again :-) 44 of us from Logos II travelled 24 hours by bus through Germany, Austria, Slovenia and into Croatia to move home to Logos Hope. We have been here 1 week now.

The ship work is slowly progressing and nearing the point where she will be able to sail to Germany. Leadership are looking for that to be the end of the month but we will see!

I am in the galley still. I'd rather not be there. I've been in the ships galleys now for over 1 year and I'm ready to do a different job. In contrast to Logos II, galley here is very antisocial hours because I am working when everyone is off and off when everyone is working... Hard to make friends. I'm also sick of shifts.

Other than work, things are good. Enjoying my time with Luke immensely :-) Enjoying the warmer weather. Enjoying ping-pong. Enjoying Croatian pizza and icecream.
