Short update

OM are still discussing what is best for me!

I had my dissertation 1-hour oral exam today. It went really well. Praise God! They thought my dissertation was very good with only a couple of criticisms, which were minor! I only have a presentation to do now in 2 weeks time and my final 6 exams.

I am having loads of fab "God time" at the moment. I think the delays from OM have spurred me on to pray more and God is teaching me a lot. I'm even beginning to enjoy the delayed decision!! I have spent more time in prayer and reading my Bible, more time trusting God and have become much more bold in telling people about the ships! All for HIM!

The World's Children

  • More than ten million children still die each year from preventable causes. That's 30,000 a day - or one every three seconds.
  • One billion lack access to safe drinking water.
  • 30 million are not vaccinated against diseases that could be prevented.
  • Over 150 million still suffer from malnutrition.
  • More than 250 million children have to work so that their families can eat.
  • 125 million children do not go to school - the majority girls.
  • 100 million have been orphaned as the result of HIV/AIDS.
  • Every year at least half a million children go partially or totally blind because of vitamin A deficiency.
  • 1.2 million girls under 18 are trafficked for prostitution each year - with over 1,000,000 children working in the sex trade in Asia alone.
  • Some 300,000 children serve as soldiers in conflicts spanning 50 countries.
  • Two million children have been killed and six million permanently injured in conflicts in the past ten years.

Glandular fever

Had flu-like symptoms 10 days ago. Went to doc this week coz throat still kills and hard to swallow. Doc reckons I've had glandular fever! I'm on penicillin this week. Please pray for full healing before this weekend's OM conference. Nothing's gonna keep me from going but I'd rather feel fully alive! All glory to Him for keeping me going!

A Christian lifestyle

'The greatest single cause of atheism in the world today is Christians, who acknowledge Jesus with their lips then walk out the door and deny Him by their lifestyle. That is what an unbelieving world simply finds unbelievable.' - Tobymac
I nicked this quote off someone else's webpage. I thought it summed up a lot really. The other day I was sat in my living room while two of my housemates who aren't Christians proceeded to say they were. Their understanding of being a Christian is that you believe in God. Even satan believes in God! My understanding is that not only does a Christian believe in God and that His Son Jesus died for them but that they are a disciple of Christ. This is much more radical than simply saying "I believe in God", though this is a good place to start. It involves surrendering your life to Him; saying Lord, your will not mine. It involves commitment, hard choices, self-sacrifice... One of my housemates said but you don't have to go to church to be a Christian... well no, it is more than just attending church services, but Jesus says we should be in fellowship with one another. My question would be if you're a Christian, why NOT go to church?
